The FOCUS series is organized by the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and features three solo exhibitions each year. Started in 2005, this series is committed to introducing visitors to new and emerging artists gaining worldwide acclaim as well as exhibiting esteemed mid-career artists previously under-recognized in the region. The FOCUS series is organized by Associate Curator Alison Hearst. FOCUS exhibitions are open to the public and are included in general Museum admission.
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents David Park: A Retrospective, on view beginning June 2, 2019. Organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and curated by Janet Bishop, Thomas Weisel Family Curator of Painting and Sculpture at SFMOMA, this is the first major museum exhibition in more than 30 years to present the powerfully expressive work of David Park (1911-1960), best known as the originator of Bay Area Figurative art.
This popular series of lectures and presentations by artists, architects, historians, and critics is free and open to the public on Tuesdays from February 19 through April 16. Visit www.themodern.org/programs/lectures for more information on each talk.
Lectures begin at 7 pm in the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth's auditorium. Seating begins at 6:30 pm and is limited to 250; a live broadcast of the presentations is shown in Café Modern for any additional guests.
