TUESDAY EVENINGS AT THE MODERN LECTURE SERIES Spring 2019 Schedule

This popular series of lectures and presentations by artists, architects, historians, and critics is free and open to the public on Tuesdays from February 19 through April 16. Visit www.themodern.org/programs/lectures for more information on each talk.

Lectures begin at 7 pm in the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth's auditorium. Seating begins at 6:30 pm and is limited to 250; a live broadcast of the presentations is shown in Café Modern for any additional guests.

The FOCUS series is organized by the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and features three solo exhibitions each year. Started in 2005, this series is committed to introducing visitors to new and emerging artists gaining worldwide acclaim as well as exhibiting esteemed mid-career artists previously under-recognized in the region. The FOCUS series is organized by Associate Curator Alison Hearst. FOCUS exhibitions are open to the public and are included in general Museum admission.

The S Word

The VA North Texas Health Care System is sponsoring a screening of The S Word. A suicide attempt survivor is on a mission to find fellow survivors and document their stories of courage, insight and humor. Along the way, she discovers a rising national movement transforming personal struggles into action.

First Fridays at the Modern with Tom Reynolds Trio

Take advantage of live music in the Grand Lobby and enjoy music from the Tom Reynolds Trio.

The first Friday of each month, the Modern and Café Modern team up to bring you live music and drink specials in the museum's Grand Lobby from 5 to 8 pm. Invite friends to enjoy unique cocktail selections, and the opportunity to dine at the Modern by night. Café Modern offers a full menu in the dining room and lighter fare in the Grand Lobby until 8 pm. A docent-led, 20-minute tour of the galleries is available at 6:30 pm.

Two sessions of this free program are offered, one for ages 5 to 8 and one for ages 9 to 12. Each session is led by an artist who takes participants through informal drawing exercises in relation to works in the Modern’s galleries. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Bring a sketchbook and pencils. Attendance is limited, so early arrival is encouraged. A sign-up sheet is located at the information desk. 2-3:30 pm

Learn with local artists as they lead informal basic drawing classes in the galleries. This free class is open to adults at all skill levels—just bring a sketchbook and pencils. Registration is not required, but participants should sign in at the information desk. 2-3:30 pm
