Artists Linda and Ed Blackburn in conversation with Mark Thistlethwaite

Linda and Ed Blackburn have made art and managed their careers in Fort Worth for many years, becoming important fixtures in the North Texas art community. Dr. Mark Thistlethwaite is the Kay and Velma Kimbell Art History Chair at TCU and a significant fixture in the community in his own right. All three have a long and enduring relationship with the Modern.

American Showpieces

Pianists Shields-Collins Bray, Catharine Lysinger, Alex McDonald, Evan Mitchell, and Jonathan Tsay take on some of American classical music’s greatest hits. In this special afternoon showcase, revel in performances of pieces by John Corigliano, Frederic Rzewski, Aaron Jay Kernis, and David Del Tredici, as well as the 1981 Cliburn Competition commission of Leonard Bernstein’s “Touches.”

Outer Circles

The first Friday of each month, the Star-Telegram, the Modern, and Café Modern team up to bring you live music and drink specials in the museum's Grand Lobby from 5 to 8 pm. Invite friends to enjoy unique cocktail selections, and the opportunity to dine at the Modern by night. Café Modern offers a full menu in the dining room and lighter fare in the Grand Lobby until 8 pm. A docent-led, 20-minute tour of the galleries is available at 6:30 pm.
